to Make Medicaid Recipients Work The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released guidelines Thursday discussing what states need to do to mandate that certain Medicaid enrollees work to qualify for benefits. This will allow states to cut off benefits to anyone on Medicaid unless they have a job, are in school, are a caregiver or participate in other approved forms of
“community engagement.” There are 10 states lined up waiting for federal permission to impose work requirements on able-bodied adults in the program. Americans deemed "medically frail" and pregnant women will be exempted. States must also prove they are not inappropriately denying coverage
to those with disabilities. The policy shift comes in contrast to Obama-era policies, which refrained from allowing states to institute work requirements.
