On Wednesday, Republican Representative Darrell Issa of California announced he will retire in 2018. In a statement, Issa said, "While my service to California's 49th District will be coming to an end, I will continue advocating on behalf of the causes that are most important to me." Issa was one of 23 Republicans who retained their seats in districts won by Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
