Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon called President Trump "a great man" just hours after their feud erupted on Wednesday.
During a 'Breitbart News Tonight' segment on Sirius XM radio, Bannon said, "The President of the United States is a great man. You know, I support him day in and day out."
The statement came on the same day media outlets published excerpts from Michael Wolff's forthcoming book, 'Fire and Fury: Inside The Trump White House.'
In an interview for the book, Bannon shared a number of unflattering words about Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, reports The Guardian.
Bannon suggested that the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russians was "treasonous" and "treasonous ."
Trump soon after released a statement, saying, "Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind."
Trump also asserted that Bannon "spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was," and, "only pretends to have had influence to fool a few people with no access and no clue, whom he helped write phony books."
