Colin Munro became the first batsman to score three hundreds in T20 internationals. The left-handed New Zealand opener achieved this feat by making 104 off 53 balls with three fours and 10 sixes in the third and final T20 match against West Indies at Mount Maunganui on Wednesday (January 3).

It was Colin Munro’s second century at this venue. He also scored 101 against Bangladesh on January 6, 2017. Munro’s highest score is an unbeaten 109 against India at Rajkot on November 4, 2017.

Powered by Munro’s knock, New Zealand made 243 batting first against the West Indies. Martin Guptill made 63 while for the West Indies Carlos Brathwaite took two for 50. The Kiwis defeated West Indies by 119 runs to win the three-match series 2-0. The second game was abandoned due to rain.

New Zealand’s 119-run victory was their biggest in term of runs and third biggest overall after Sri Lanka’s 172-run victory over Kenya at Johannesburg on September 14,2007 and South Africa’s 139-run win over Scotland at The Oval on June 7,2009. New Zealand’s previous biggest win was 95-run over Pakistan at Wellington on January 22,2016.

Salient features of Colin Munro’s century on Wednesday:

2. Colin Munro became New Zealand’s second and seventh player on eighth occasion to hit 10 or more sixes in an innings. West Indian Chris Gayle is the only batsman to achieve this feat twice
