Joe Scarborough Warns In Op-Ed: 'A Storm Is Gathering'

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough penned an op-ed titled, "A storm is gathering," for The Washington Post Friday.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, an outspoken critic of President Trump, has penned a Washington Post op-ed titled, "A storm is gathering," reports The Hill.
"There is every reason to believe that 2018 will be the most consequential political year of our lives," Scarborough says in the piece published on Thursday. "The reckoning upon us follows a year mercifully drawing to a close this weekend. Over that horrid year, President Trump has questioned the legitimacy of federal judges, used Stalinist barbs to attack the free press and cast contempt on the rule of law, while his campaign manager, his national security adviser and a foreign policy aide have been marched into federal courts."
The 'Morning Joe' co-host then goes on to point out Trump's controversial support for Republican Senate Candidate Roy Moore and the president's response to the Charlottesville violence.
Trump had blamed "both sides" for the violence, which claimed the life of 32-year-old Heather Heyer, after a man drove into a crowd of counterprotesters at a white nationalist rally.
In his piece, Scarborough also says that while the recent erosion of the US influence worldwide is "disturbing," it is the Trump administration's "undermining of democratic values that poses an even greater threat to our Constitution and country."
He ends with, "the storm is gathering. And how we respond in the months ahead may determine our fate for years to come."
Trump, not surprisingly, has a different perspective on where the country is headed in 2018.
"I hope everyone is having a great Christmas, then tomorrow it's back to work in order to Make America Great Again (which is happening faster than anyone anticipated)!" Trump tweeted on December 25.
"All signs are that business is looking really good for next year, only to be helped further by our Tax Cut Bill. Will be a great year for Companies and JOBS! Stock Market is poised for another year of SUCCESS!" the president wrote in another tweet.
