It was Kylo Ren ditching the helmet he wore in The Force Awakens. Kylo Ren ditches the mask in the first half hour of the movie. It was a huge risk for the filmmaker. Johnson said “It was a little terrifying because, by the time we were making the movie, the first film had come out and every kid was wearing Kylo Ren masks on Halloween.
