President Trump on Friday tweeted about the impact of the recently signed GOP tax bill on Obamacare.
"Remember, the most hated part of ObamaCare is the Individual Mandate, which is being terminated under our just signed Tax Cut Bill," Trump tweeted.
The president expressed similar thoughts on Wednesday as well.
"In this bill, not only do we have massive tax cuts and tax reform, we have essentially repealed Obamacare and we'll come up with something that will be much better," Trump told reporters prior to a Cabinet meeting. "The individual mandate is being repealed. When the individual mandate is being repealed, that means Obamacare is being repealed because they get their money from the individual mandate."
Many pushed back against Trump's assertion that he "essentially repealed" Obamacare.
CNN noted, "Trump thinks the tax bill also repeals Obamacare. It didn't, although the bill does chip away at one of the Affordable Care Act's foundations."
