Hugh Jackman's P.T. Barnum Ignores Showman's Racism

Hugh Jackman's new movie, "The Greatest Showman", is a musical about the life of P.T. Barnum. The film is a dazzling visual spectacle. It also ignores that Barnum's fortune came from by exploiting and abusing African Americans. That portrayal is not sitting well with some progressives. In an essay for NBC News, Harriet A. Washington accuses the producers of the movie of whitewashing Barnum's racist and 'privileged' past.
