Rhys Tolhurst is a modern-day Singer-Songwriter. Raised in Far North Queensland, the spotlight found Rhys in 2012 when he became a Finalist on Australia’s Got Talent. Receiving positive responses from all three celebrity judges Brian McFadden, Dannii Minogue and Kyle Sandilands along with stand-in judge Todd McKenney, Rhys’ talent was recognised Nationally.
Known for performing jazz standards with his warm-like-honey vocals and charismatic stage presence, the last few years have seen Rhys develop into a unique sound of Pop Music. Songwriting, recording and performing his own material as well as putting his spin on a wide collection of covers, he follows in the footsteps of his influences including John Legend, Chris Martin, Guy Sebastian and John Mayer.
“I really treasure and respect the meaning of a song. I believe it should come straight from the heart – whatever emotion you’re feeling when you’re writing should be captured”, tells Rhys.
Jumping on tables and singing to his parents’ friends since he was five years old, whether the gig is in front of five people or five thousand people, Rhys just loves to perform whilst interacting with his audience.
Over the past few years Rhys has been heavily involved into the Television and Radio Industry in Far North Queensland, presenting a weekly Entertainment Segment on Seven News and diving into the airwaves as an on-air promotional member of the Zinc Breakfast Team.
Rhys also has a passion in writing, recording and producing audio in the studio. He has been hired to write, record and perform privately by National Companies and Artists.
