ARI finds healing in music. In university, she majored in psychology looking for answers to anxiety, but she found them behind a microphone instead.
“I became a psych major so I could figure out what the hell was wrong with me, but I ended up in the music building” she says.
ARI deftly dances in and out of genre lines, moving from entrancing alt pop to gritty hip-hop production under a cover of electronic elegance. Her visceral lyrics transmit messages of hope as often as they ponder tragedy.
“There’s dark and light inside all of us,” she says. “Every opposite is a complement. You can’t have beauty without pain. You accept yourself amidst those demons.”
“Working on the EP became the birth of a new process,” she goes on. “That’s when I adopted the name ARI, the musical identity I’ve been working towards my whole life.”
That identity is a persona can be heard on her debut EP, Tunnel Vision where she breaks down the walls of conformity offering a beautiful collection of songs with the right amount of grit to make empowering statements.
