Don’t Mind has been a project 30 years in the making. Inspired by the music of Depeche Mode and the electronic sounds of the 80’s Don’t Mind was born out of this love. The project was launched by Julian von Plato a music industry veteran of 25 years (Plato’s Theory, BalconyTV host and producer) and Mark Wilson (Hey Now Now) on keyboards. Both had a love for electronica and the 80’s and were within no time developing there own unusual take on Depeche Mode. Shortly after Justin Hart (Hey Now Now) and Mark Biagio (Mind Theatre, Fismits) joined on to create the sound of Don’t Mind.
Don’t Mind is dedicated to re-imaging the sound of Depeche Mode as well as their own compositions. Don’t Mind first show was a sellout 80’s show to an audience of 1000 with Hey Now Now at GoodLuck Bar. The first single ‘Lie to Me’ from the 1984 album Some Great Reward has already been selected for the Depeche Mode fan site DMDownloads https://dmdownload.bandcamp.com/ . With already 14 compilations released with tribute bands from around the globe. Don’t Mind are set to be the first SA band to featured on the series. Along side ‘Lie to Me’ the B-side ‘Personal Jesus’ is also being released via DMDownloads.
February 2017 sees the release of their Valentines Day single ‘ Who do we love now’ as well as the video tribute to ‘Lie to Me’. Don’t Mind can be found performing around various venues in Johannesburg.
