After batting really well and giving India a great start Shikhar Dhawan fell prey to Lankan bowler Pathirana. India were put to bat first after the visitors won the toss and invited India to bat first. Luck is not at all favoring the stand-in Indian skipper Rohit Sharma as far as toss is concerned as he once again lost the toss and Lanka after winning the toss have elected the Men in Blue to come out and bat first. For India Washington Sundar is making his ODI debut and he replaces Kuldeep Yadav.
