THE NOMAD TRAVELLER presesnts BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK - MADHYA PRADESH

Bandhavgarh was instituted as National Park in 1968,
before being instituted the areas around Bandhavgarh
were a game reserve for Royal Families of India with no
conservation measures in place.

Bandhavgarh National Park is approximately 450 square
kilometres of park are open to tourist and has a
population of around 60 tigers. The park is mainly
dense forest of mainly Sal and Bamboo constituting the
hilly areas of the park and a mixed diversity of forest
in the valleys and slopes.

Bandhavgarh National Park is also home to a varied
population of wild life such as the Cheetal, Axis,
Panthera Pardus, Leopards, Indian Bison, Sambhar,
The Barking Deer, Blue Bull ( Neelgai), Caracal,
wolf and the hyena amongst other small and other species
of animals are found in the Park.

A lesser known major fact about the Bandhavgarh National
Park is that most of the tigers in Bandhavgarh are
the descendents of a famous tiger called "CHARGER". He
had a habit of charging at tourists and Elephants in order
to scare them and he was good at it, also a female tigress
by the name of "SITA" was a very famous tigress, considered
to be the most photographed tiger (tigress) in the world,
she once also appeared on the cover the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC
MAGAZINE.
