According to a new report, NFL liner backer Ryan Shazier may have suffered a more severe injury than initially expected.
The Pittsburgh Steelers defensive player suffered a spinal injury during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, after a head-on collision while making a tackle.
A neurologist who consults with the NFL Players' Association added he may not play football again.
However, Dr. Anthony Alessi only gave his professional opinion regarding a spinal surgery Shazier had after the hit.
Dr. Alessi has not reviewed his medical records.
But the surgery Shazier had indicates the bones around the spinal cord became dislocated.
