The Malaysian Institute Of Economic Research (MIER) warns that continuous use of private consumption as a tool to support the economy is "quite risky".
Its Executive Director, Dr Zakariah Abdul Rashid said that the usage of this tool had resulted in households obtaining easy credit and causing high levels of household debt.
