LiAngelo Ball Spoke for the First Time About His Arrest in China On Tuesday's edition of the 'Today' show, UCLA basketball player LiAngelo Ball and his father, Lavar, spoke about LiAngelo's arrest in China. LiAngelo Ball, on 'Today' LiAngelo and his two teammates were eventually released from custody, thanks in large part to President Trump, who happened to be on a state visit in China when the incident occurred. Following their arrival back in the United States, UCLA proceeded to suspend all three players indefinitely. Lavar has since withdrawn LiAngelo from UCLA, claiming that the school and the NCAA were too harsh in their punishment.
