Scott Watkins in Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme had horrific crash with John Paul, Jr. in Riley & Scott Mk III Ford during the 1995 Chrysler/Mosport 500 at Mosport International Raceway (Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada) in the 1995 Exxon World Sports Car Championship and Supreme GT Series (IMSA GT).

The racing accident occurred in a early phase of a race when inexperienced Scott Watkins in an attempt to let leading drivers pass him for a lap, entered the curve widely, then rush out onto the grass, which resulted in a complete loss of control and collision with John Paul Jr. who was, in this accident, just passanger.

Scott Watkins is less known race car driver. Scott had only a few professional races, precisely only 5 races in IMSA GT/Grand Am Road Racing Championship. Scott Watkins raced on Daytona International Speedway in 1991, 1994, 1995 & 2000, and Mosport International Raceway in 1995, when he had serious racing accident.

John Lee Paul Jr. (born February 19, 1960 in Muncie, Indiana) is a retired American racing driver. John Paul competed in CART and the Indy Racing League competitions, but primarily in IMSA GT Championship, winning the title in 1982. During his career, Paul was a twice winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, the first of these was while co-driving his father, John Paul Sr. A few weeks later, the pair won the 1982 12 Hours of Sebring. Paul also triumphed in another major US race, the 1983 CART’s Michigan 500.

The 1995 Exxon World Sports Car Championship and Supreme GT Series seasons were the 25th season of the IMSA GT Championship. It consisted of open-cockpit prototypes referred to as the World Sports Car (WSC) class and Grand Tourer-style racing cars divided into GTS-1 and GTS-2 classes. It began February 4, 1995, and ended October 8, 1995, after eleven rounds.
