Comic-Con Busted In Libya For Being "Exploitative"

Police in Libya just ruined Comic-Con, claiming the festival is an attack on morals and modesty.

This is the second Comic-Con to be held in the country, and hundreds of people were in attendance donning costumes from America and Japanese comic books.

The attendees barely had time to geek out. Shortly after the event opened, police stormed the venue, arresting organizers and participants and seizing computers.

Authorities say the festival is a foreign attempt to exploit religious weakness and fascination with other cultures.

Comic-Con started in the United States in the 1970s and has since spread around the world, even to places including Saudi Arabia.

But in Libya, censorship is Comic-Con's kryptonite.
