Bali's Beaches Are Overwhelmed With Trash

The beloved vacation destination Bali is being flooded with trash. About 50 tons of garbage are washing up on Bali’s beautiful shores every day, which is 10 times more than normal for the island.

During Indonesia’s rainy season, trash dumped in the country’s rivers flows out to the ocean where it collects on the beach.

Indonesia is the second-biggest source of plastic marine waste on Earth. In 2010, the country dumped 3.2 million tons of plastic into its waters. Bali is deploying 700 cleaning personnel to deal with the trash but is it enough to stop paradise from becoming a dump?
