Trump reportedly thinks accusations against Roy Moore are 'clearly political' and it's behind his de facto endorsement
  • 6 years ago

President Donald Trump shared his support of the Alabama senatorial candidate Roy Moore to reporters, despite accusations of sexual misconduct against Moore from seven different women all of them 18 or younger at the time. Trump took Moore’s side in saying that Moore “totally denies it” and that we don’t need “a liberal person… a democrat” in the senate. Trump’s skepticism of the accusations seems to stem from the slim republican majority in the senate and his fear of losing a seat to a democrat. The timing of the accusations as well as the involvement of Gloria Allred may also have made him suspicious of the accusers. The accusers however have presented damning evidence including a yearbook that Moore signed when he was 30 and the girl was 16.
