France calls for UN Security Council meeting on Libya slave auctions

France has requested an urgent meeting of the UN security council to discuss the treatment of migrants in Libya after footage surfaced of a human auction in the country. French President Emmanuel Macron has called the sale of migrants at slave auctions “a crime against humanity” and said they would press for sanctions if Libya’s justice system fails to act. Libyan authorities have said they launched a formal investigation into the human slave auctions.
