Barbra Streisand Says She Doesn't Like Being A Showoff

Barbra Streisand has only performed 100 public concerts since 1963. The double Oscar and 10-time Grammy winner attributes this to stage fright, feeling “like a show off,” and an aversion to the trappings of fame. Streisand told Reuters, "“I don’t enjoy getting up on stage and prancing around. I feel like a show off. I don’t like being a show off. I like to be still. I like to sit in my chair and sing quietly to the audience. It’s hard for me to be too theatrical." After forgetting her lyrics during a 1967 concert in New York's Central Park, stage fright prevented Streisand from performing publicly for 27 years.
