Fox News host Sean Hannity has taken a variety of stances on the sexual assault allegations against Roy Moore, and a recent report suggests that Steve Bannon may have played a role in those changing, and ultimately softened, views.
"An intervention by Steve Bannon might have moved Sean Hannity off of his initial stance questioning inconsistencies in Roy Moore's stories," CNN's Rebecca Berg noted Thursday. "Bannon called Hannity following his Tuesday night ultimatum and urged the host to dial back the harsh criticism, a source familiar with the conversation confirmed. On Wednesday night's show, Hannity said it's up to the voters to decide..."
That ultimatum came in the form of Hannity reportedly threatening to withdraw his support unless Moore removed "any doubt" of his innocence within 24 hours.
The following day, Hannity appeared satisfied that those answers had been provided.
Politico reports that he went on to share statements made by the Moore campaign, which included a report that handwriting analyst would be examining a message Moore is said to have written in an alleged victim's yearbook.
In addition to saying it's now in the voters' hands, Hannity noted those people have, "got to have all the facts that they need."
He went on to suggest it may be appropriate for Alabama's governor to delay the election in the service of getting "to the truth."
