FCC Votes To Loosen Media Ownership Rules

On Thursday, the US Federal Communications Commission voted to eliminate key roadblocks to increased consolidation among media companies, a move which potentially opens the door for new deals among TV, radio and newspaper owners looking to compete with online media. The Republican-led commission voted 3-2 to remove the forty-two-year-old ban on cross-ownership of a newspaper and TV station in a major market.
