Citrosuco juices up its European business from Flanders
Brazilian food company Citrosuco is the largest producer of orange juice concentrate in the world. Its logistics hub in Ghent, Flanders was established in 1980. Today, via Citrosuco, one in every four glasses of orange juice poured in Europe passes through the ports of Ghent and Zeebrugge in Flanders. The terminal for the bulk storage of orange juice and concentrates in Ghent is the second-largestof its kind worldwide, after the one in Brazil.

“Since the very beginning, the company has worked closely with the Ghent Port Authority,” explains Katrien Van Den Bossche, managing director of Citrosuco Europe. “Brazil has since become the most important trade partner for the Port of Ghent.”

Ghent is a city in Flanders, a truly unique location for setting up a distribution center or logistics hub. Flanders is the ideal gateway to Europe. The region has four seaports and three airports. Its road, railway and waterway networks are among the densest in the world.

“Flanders has many other assets as well,” Katrien Van Den Bossche continues. “The people of Flanders have the intellectual skills it takes to develop innovative processes and provide logistics companies with the strong support they need. In addition, they are very motivated, highly educated, multilingual and extremely productive.”

“Flanders Investment and Trade is dedicated to the connection between Flanders and Brazil. The organization has an unprecedented network that enables it to help companies around the world invest and obtain subsidies. Crucial to our success is the fact that they have a local office in São Paulo. From this convenient location, they guide us through the process of developing new markets and set up many diverse initiatives,” she concludes.
