Life for gay women in Russia is a daily battle against harassment and threats of violence. Elvira Brodskaya and her wife Anastasia Orlova fled St. Petersburg after years of persecution to start a new life in New York City. While the United States has long extended asylum to LGBTQ immigrants, restrictive immigration policies present new barriers to asylum seekers like Brodskaya.
