This Israeli Female Soldier Took On A Crowd Of Ultra-Orthodox Jews

An off-duty soldier took on a crowd of ultra-Orthodox Israeli Jews during a recent protest in Jerusalem regarding compulsory military service.

Ultra-Orthodox men aren't allowed to touch women other than their wives, so soldier Nomi Golan initially used her body to disperse the crowd, who spat, kicked, and cursed at her. Then, as the crowd grew even more violent, Golan resorted to physical attacks to defend herself.

Israel's ultra-Orthodox community has been exempt from compulsory military service for decades, but Israel's Supreme Court recently struck down the law, saying it was discriminatory, leading ultra-Orthodox Jews to protest across the country. Those protests have been ongoing.
