Trump: ‘Ivanka Has Been Treated Very Unfairly’

President Trump has said he thinks his daughter Ivanka “has been treated very unfairly.”

President Trump has said he thinks his daughter Ivanka "has been treated very unfairly."
After blasting the media for being "fake" during a Fox News' interview that aired on Thursday, he was asked about his family's adjustment to his job, and he said, "I think my family has been treated unfairly. I think that Ivanka has been treated very unfairly, frankly."
While the president didn't elaborate during his appearance on 'The Ingraham Angle,' she has been the target of numerous criticisms since joining the administration.
Much of the backlash involves a perception that she has not been a successful moderating influence on her father on issues like the gender pay gap, the ban on transgender service people in the military, and the Paris climate agreement.
"Actions speak louder than words," Human Rights Campaign's Sarah McBride told Politico in July. "Either Ivanka is ineffective in her advocacy within the building, or her voice doesn't matter to the president as much as she hopes it does."
However, Trump family friend R. Couri Hay defended her in the same report, saying, "She's in there doing what she can. It's unrealistic, unfair and cruel to expect her to change climate policy and pre-K and women's issues in six months."
Ivanka herself has echoed a similar sentiment.
"Some people have created unrealistic expectations of what they expect from me," she told the Financial Times in September. "That my presence in and of itself would carry so much weight with my father that he would abandon his core values and the agenda that the American people voted for when they elected him...It's not going to happen."
She added, "To those critics, shy of turning my father into a liberal, I'd be a failure to them."
CBS News' Gayle King asked her in April about the claims that she has not been voicing her opinion enough.
"Where I disagree with my father, he knows it. And I express myself with total candor. Where I agree, I fully lean in and support the agenda," Ivanka responded.
