Schumer Compares Trump's NYC Attack Reaction To Bush's 9/11 Response

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday responded to President Trump's tweets over the New York City attack.

President Trump suggested Wednesday that a policy supported by Chuck Schumer is what allowed Tuesday's fatal attack in New York City to happen.
Not long after, the Senate Minority Leader fired back.
"I've seen the tweets from President Trump," Schumer said in an address before the Senate. "The contrast between President Bush's actions after 9/11 and President Trump's actions this morning could not be starker."
"President Bush, in a moment of national tragedy, understood the meaning of his high office, and sought to bring our country together," Schumer further noted. "President Trump, instead of politicizing and dividing America…should be bringing us together and focusing on the real solution, anti-terrorism funding, which he proposed to cut in his most recent budget."
The Trump tweets triggering that response began with, "The terrorist came into our country through what is called the 'Diversity Visa Lottery Program,' a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based."
The president went on to tag Fox & Friends in two statements, one reading, "We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter)," and the other including a Col.Tony Shaffer quote, "'Senator Chuck Schumer helping to import Europes problems.'"
The suspect in the Tuesday attack, 29-year-old Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, is from Tashkent, Uzbekistan. "He entered the United States in 2010 through the so-called Diversity Visa Lottery, a special program started in 1995 that according to the State Department hands out about 55,000 visas per year to applicants," notes ABC News.
