The man named by US networks as the suspect in the New York attack was arrested in Missouri in 2016 for a traffic violation. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump says he has ordered more robust "extreme vetting" of travelers coming into the United States following the first deadly attack in New York blamed on terror since the September 11, 2001 strikes.
