Mary Burns: “Behind ev'ry great man, there had to be a great woman” - Jamie Starboisky - Trailer

The aim of the film is to explore the story of Mary Burns, a working class woman of Irish descent who became Engels' life-long partner. The little information on Burns that survives, suggest that this fiery and politically engaged woman was Engels’ first contact with the condition of working class people during the Industrial Revolution, and as such largely responsible for his subsequent writings, finally resulting in the Communist Manifesto co-written with Karl Marx.
