What you need to know about the Manafort-Gates indictment

This morning, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates turned themselves into the FBI after being indicted on 12 charges of false statements, conspiracy against the U.S. and conspiracy to launder money. Here is what you need to know. The indictment focuses on their years as political consultants and their ties with Ukraine. Most of their time in Ukraine was spent lobbying for the Party of Regions, the pro-Russian political party. The pair reportedly received millions of dollars from their work with the country and then routed that money through offshore accounts to pay for their lifestyle. Manafort and Gates then lied about the money when questioned by the FBI.
