The World’s First USA vs Japan Giant Robot Fight Has A Winner

Two years of training led to a robot fight to end all robot fights.

The U.S. recently faced Japan in the world's first giant robot fight. The fight took place in an abandoned steel mill in Japan, with the home team winning the opening round against the older U.S. model. But there is an American hope: the newer Eagle Prime used its 12-ton weight and 16-foot height to overwhelm the 6.5-ton Japanese Kurata in the main event.

While the robots were comically slow, and several moments looked scripted, they did entertain. Organizers hope to eventually start a fighting robot league. Just don't expect "Pacific Rim"...yet.
