Dramatic footage has emerged showing flames bursting out of a manhole cover in Sheffield city centre.

The video shot in front of a Co-op on Glossop Road this morning (October 27) shows huge flames flaring up an underground air vent.

The filmer told Newsflare that he was walking up to the Co-op when he "heard a buzzing/rumbling sound before becoming face to face with the blaze which suddenly flared up."

Local reports say that roads in Sheffield city centrer have been closed this morning because of an underground electrical fire.
