Refugees In Greece Learn Skateboarding To Integrate Into Society

A group in Athens, Greece, is teaching refugees to skate, hoping to give them needed physical and social skills.

Free Movement Skateboarding travels from camp to camp with portable wooden ramps, teaching kids how to ollie. Greece is home to more than 60,000 refugees. Skateboarding can't solve wars or the refugee crisis, but the movement's founders hope it will give young people a mental break from the monotony of a life in limbo.

And the lessons aren't exclusive to refugees. Local kids are encouraged to participate, too, in order to help further integrate the newcomers into Greek society.
