Video has emerged of clashes outside a theatre in Thessaloniki, Greece, on Wednesday night (October 18) between Christian Orthodox activists and police.

The clashes took place as protesters tried to enter the Aristotelian theater over the late Fernando Pessoa's controversial theatrical show "The Hour of the Devil".

Protesters holding Greek flags, icons and crosses accused actors and theater bosses of blasphemy for their production of the story which is about a discussion between a woman and a devil.

According to the filmer, the show went ahead under the protection of riot police.
