Terrifying footage of flames gaining ground and approaching houses in the Silverado Crest neighbourhood of Napa, California.

The video, captured with a home CCTV on October 10, shows the fire creeping up to homes.

"Our house was one of the lucky ones," the filmer told Newsflare.
