The search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 could be resumed after three private companies put forward proposals to the Malaysian government to get the search underway again.

The plane disappeared on March 8, 2014, somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur with 239 people aboard.

Its disappearance has become one of the world’s greatest aviation mysteries.

Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said proposals were received from U.S.-based seabed exploration firm Ocean Infinity, Dutch firm Fugro and an unidentified Malaysian company.

“We wont be deciding anything now, whether we are embarking on a new search or not because we have to wait for discussions with the companies and it will take some time because there are some detailed discussion then later on we will present to the tripartite countries. Malaysia, China and Australia would have to sit down to decide on this very important decision.”

The two-year, Australian-led search for the aircraft was suspended in January amid protests from families of those onboard.
