RAW: Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor recovering after 3 years of ISIS siege
  • 7 years ago
After a 3-year siege by ISIS, which was broken earlier this month, Deir ez-Zor is rising from the ashes, even though Syrian government troops are pushing out the remaining ISIS fighters.
In eastern Syria, government forces keep up their offensive on the city of Deir ez-Zor, capturing a new neighborhood from ISIS and increasing their hold to over 60% of the city.
The Russian-backed offensive in eastern Syria is complicated by a separate and simultaneous campaign of Syrian opposition fighters backed by the US-led coalition.
