Referendum Threat: Madrid threatens to strip Catalonia of its budget over referendum plans

In the government’s latest move to block the Catalonia region’s upcoming independence referendum, police have raided a printing house allegedly producing materials promoting separation.
Then, on Friday, Barcelona was given 48 hours to sign an agreement guaranteeing that federal money will not be spent on the referendum. Thus, Spain will take control over part of Catalonia’s budget.
