Twitter Mocks Trump’s Mispronunciation Of ‘Tanzania’
  • 7 years ago
President Trump mispronounced Tanzania during a speech on Friday and Twitter users were quick to notice.

President Trump is being mocked online for his mispronunciation of the country “Tanzania.”
During a speech about the Iran nuclear deal Friday, he referred to the African nation as “tan-ZAY-nee-uh," rather than "tan-zu-NEE-uh."
The flub comes less than a month after the U.S. president mentioned a nonexistent country he called “Nambia” during a United Nations speech in front of many African leaders, reports CNN.
Social media was quick to point out his most recent mistake, with one person writing, “Trump just mispronounced/made-up another African country. #Tanzania.”
“Nevada, Tanzania, Beyoncé, premeditation, industry, Irma, coca, Orion, Namibia...just a FEW things Trump has incorrectly pronounced," another person tweeted.
Meanwhile, some other comments were related to the seriousness of the topic he was speaking about, with remarks like, “The only good that comes from Trump talking about Iran is that we now know he still hasn't bothered to learn how to pronounce Tanzania.”
"I don't care that Trump mispronounced Tanzania," said one tweeter, dismissing the error. "I care he's itching for war against North Korea, Iran, and America. #IranDeal.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has mispronounced “Tanzania.” A Washington Post report from last year notes that the then-GOP presidential candidate gave a foreign policy speech where he said the country’s name the same way he did Friday.
