Young girl builds amphibious vehicle from trash heap toy car

An awesome video has emerged of an 11-year-old girl turning an old toy motorised car into an amphibious vehicle.

The footage, shot on October 8 near Sydney, NSW, Australia, shows Mikalah making the car waterproof and adding floatation to the car with empty plastic bottles.

"Mikalah first removed the base, and then sealed it with silicone. She then filled all the voids, including the wheels with an expanding foam sealant," her father wrote online.

"Sides were added to stop the water from coming in. An electric outboard motor was fitted to the back. Steering was added by running cables from the wheels to the outboard,: he added.

Once the vehicles customised, Mikalah takes it for a test drive into a near by pond which turns out to be sucessful as she doesn't sink or capsize.

"Her next plan is to replace the outboard motor with a more powerful one so that the vehicle will travel much faster," her father explained.

"Mikalah hopes to one day be a television presenter and enjoys being part of the 'Make Science Fun' team on YouTube."
