South Koreans Turn To YouTube For Nuclear War Survival Tips

With nuclear tensions high on the Korean Peninsula, South Koreans are turning to YouTube to learn how to prepare survival kits.

A Korean search for “survival bag” brings up 7,400 posted pieces of content in 2017 alone. Kang Yoo-Mi, a Korean comic, posted a video that received more than half a million views.

Online food ration shopping is spiking, too. One Korean auction site reported a 77 percent increase in combat ration sales in the beginning of September. This was around the time of Pyongyang’s sixth, and largest, nuclear test.

Disaster experts are also visiting schools, teaching children how to prepare.
