Female Filipina Soldiers Play With Kids To Fight Radicalization
  • 7 years ago
Female Filipina soldiers are working with local children to fight against radicalization in an area targeted by militants linked to the Islamic State.

The soldiers encourage the children to play and draw as a means of expression. They also provide one-on-one counseling to children who may be prone to ISIS' radicalization. The soldiers wear white hijabs to help assimilate with the Muslim community.

Even though hundreds of children in Marawi City have been displaced by the conflict, these soldiers hope to contrast that by providing a positive vision of an uncertain future.
