Attendees at the Invictus Games in Toronto were abuzz Friday after former President Barack Obama and  former Vice President Joe Biden made a surprise appearance, reports The Hill.
The famous friends reunited to watch a wheelchair basketball game alongside Biden’s wife Dr. Jill Biden and Prince Harry of Wales who established the games in 2014 for disabled veterans.
Their presence caused a stir with many spectators swarming around them to capture the moment; Kensington Palace even tweeted a short video of the ensuing excitement.
Despite the lack of an announcement, the presence of Obama and the Bidens was probably not entirely unexpected considering that Obama had been in the city for a speaking engagement and Dr. Biden had previously led the games’ U.S. delegation.
Furthermore, the former president and vice president are known to have maintained the close friendship they developed after spending eight years together in the White House.
As Obama’s chief of staff Anita Decker Breckenridge confirmed to People magazine in May, “The bromance continues. It’s not ended.”
She pointed out that the pair “had lunch every single week for eight years.”
