ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeem ul Haque on Thursday said his party would sternly oppose the government move to appoint the Director General (DG) Intelligence Bureau (IB) as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman.

Talking to media persons, the PTI leader dispelled an impression that the party is divided over the nomination for the key parliamentary slot.

“The party has unanimously reached to a decision that Imran Khan will be the opposition leader,” he claimed.

Coming down hard on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Haque said Sharif has personal ties with Indian officials and his men are still in the government.

“The ruling party is impeding justice to prevail in the country. The government’s top candidate for chairman NAB portfolio (currently serving as DG IB) had sent an ambulance equipped with spy surveillance apparatus to Federal Investigation Academy during a Panama JIT grilling session,” Haque further claimed.

He said that state institutions cannot function impartially under incumbent Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

“The model town incident report has still not made public despite the court orders, besides ‘Dawn Leaks’,” he remarked.

Justifying Imran Khan’s snap polls demand, he said that the government has failed to cope with prevailing challenges across the country. “Imran Khan’s early election demand was to address the public grievances,” he added.
