On 20 September 2016, an American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER, operating flight 192 from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, was approaching the US West Coast when one of the pilots experienced a seizure. The other pilot in the cockpit declared a medical emergency and began planning for a diversion to San Francisco.\r
