Jennie Finch, former US Olympic Softball pitcher, ran the 2011 New York City Marathon in 4 hours, 5 minutes, 26 seconds (4:05:26). Finch started dead last in the race and earned one dollar ($1) for every runner she passed. Throughout the marathon Finch passed approximately 30,000 runners which is about 5,000 more than NY Giant football player Amani Toomer who took up the challenge in 2010. The money earned went to youth programs run by the New York Road Runners. Jennie Finch compares her experience in the New York City Marathon to her Olympic experience as a softball player.
