President Trump targeted Graham-Cassidy bill detractor Senator Rand Paul in a tweet Friday morning.
"Rand Paul, or whoever votes against Hcare Bill, will forever (future political campaigns) be known as 'the Republican who saved ObamaCare,'" Trump said.
This is not the first time the president has called out Paul over his position on the current GOP bill aimed at repealing Obamacare.
“Rand Paul is a friend of mine but he is such a negative force when it comes to fixing healthcare. Graham-Cassidy Bill is GREAT! Ends Ocare," Trump tweeted Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Paul has stated that he opposes the bill because it doesn’t go far enough.
“This isn't a repeal. This is keeping Obamacare and redistributing the proceeds," the senator said in a Tuesday appearance on Fox News. "So, this is not a repeal bill, this is sort of, 'Hey, we'll take Obamacare, replace it with Obamacare, but we're going to let the states have a little more power in how we spend it.'"
Sponsored by Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, the bill would get rid of health care mandates and provide federal funding for states to use at their own discretion, notes Bloomberg.
CNN reported Friday that Senate Republicans want to "hold a vote sometime next week" and while the bill doesn't yet have the 50 votes, "Graham this week expressed confidence that they would get there."
