Trump vows to OUTDO Macron as President promises new parade to showcase US military might
DONALD Trump has said he is seriously considering staging a military parade in Washington on July 4 "inspired" by the one he saw as Emmanuel Macron's guest in Paris on Bastille Day. But the US President said his team would do its utmost to outdo the French. He said: “It (the parade) was a beautiful thing to see. We’re going to have to try and top it. "We’ll see if we can do it this year, but we certainly will be beginning to do that." The Bastille Day military parade in Paris featured rolling tanks, marching troops and a Daft Punk-themed medley.Independence Day celebrations in the US, however, tend to be associated with fireworks displays and barbecues.Mr Trump and Mr Macron lavished praise on one another as they met at the Palace Hotel in New York on the sidelines of the UN general assembly on Monday, with the US President telling reporters that his French counterpart was doing a “terrific job”.
“He’s respected by the French people and I can tell you he is respected by the people of the United States,” Mr Trump said.Mr Macron said: “The strength that unites our relationship is that we say everything.
